ANNA GALLAGHER’S FUNDRAISER: 310,000 Steps in October for Sands https://www.facebook.com/donate/1257072664632453/951805911978451/ “I'm taking part in the 310,000 Steps in October challenge to raise money for Sands, the stillbirth & neonatal death charity. As someone who isn't generally very active this will definitely be a challenge for me! At the time of writing I have completed 214,740 steps and to mark the end of the challenge I will be climbing Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh on October 31st. I have chosen to undertake this because Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place in October and the month has special poignancy for me as my sister who was stillborn was born in October 2011. Sands funds important, life-saving research into stillbirth and neonatal death and provides invaluable support to families like mine who have been affected by such a tragedy. Any contribution you can give will make an impact, no matter how much. Sands offers emotional support and practical help to anyone affected by the death of a baby. They work in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care. They promote changes in practice and fund research to reduce the loss of babies' lives. Sands is also heavily involved with Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th-15th October annually) which works to break the stigma and silence surrounding baby loss and help grieving families to see that they are not alone in their tragedy. Many thanks.”
