Pope Francis will preside over the Beatification Mass in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday, 4th September 2022. Reigning over the See of Peter for only 33 days, Pope John Paul I’s was the shortest papacy in modern history. In honour of his two predecessors - John XXIII and Paul VI - he was the first Pope to choose a double name. For those who may be visiting Rome at this time, please note - tickets for the Mass can be requested from the Prefecture of the Papal Household.

Vatican appoints Dunkeld Priest as new Rector of Scots College The Vatican’s Dicastery for the Clergy has appointed Fr Mark Cassidy as the next Rector of the Pontifical Scots College in Rome in succession to Fr Dan Fitzpatrick (who returns to Paisley Diocese). The appointment was made, following the recommendation of the Bishops Conference of Scotland. Fr Cassidy will take up his new post on 1st August 2022. Fr Cassidy studied at the Scots College Rome and was Spiritual Director of the college from 2011 to 2018.
