A little note for all our young people at the Youth Hub. The Youth Hub is now closed for the Easter break and we will start back up again on Sunday 4th May 2025. We wish you all a very happy and holy Easter. Book Project Raffle: A heartfelt THANK YOU to each one of you, for your support and contribution towards the success of the Youth Hub’s raffle for refugee children and young people. The response was heartwarming and very much appreciated. With your help we raised £1,500! In the Church porch, there is a list of all the lucky winners and their prizes! If you are fortunate enough to be a winner, then please collect your prize from the parish hall after the ten o’clock Mass. The prizes will be available for collection on Sunday 6th April and Sunday 13th April. With gratitude from everyone at the Youth Hub. (CLICK ON THE TITLE TO ACCESS WINNERS' LIST.)
YOUTH HUB – Sundays (term time) 4pm - 5.30pm. New members in S1 – S3 are encouraged to come along with their friends to enjoy an afternoon of fun. ‘Book Project’ Raffle to support refugee children and young people: “Every week at the Youth Hub, we take time to work on a ‘Service Project’ to support people less fortunate than ourselves. Last term for our ‘Service’ we planned, prepared and delivered a ‘Christmas Special Elderly Project’ for the residents of Newton House Care Home. It was an amazing experience of fun and friendship for all. This term we have chosen a ‘Book Project’ for our ‘Service’ to support a Glasgow charity called, BJO Amara Association, Charity No. SC046970, who support vulnerable refugee children and young people. We plan to fundraise as much money as we can and buy as many new books as we can, by running a raffle. We are asking for YOUR help. We will be selling raffle tickets at all the Masses this weekend. It will cost £1 for a strip of tickets. The draw for the raffle will be on Sunday 30th March after the 10.00am Mass in the Parish Hall. We would be very grateful for your support in helping us to help others.” Many thanks from all at the Youth Hub.

At the start of the Covid pandemic, the Diocese of Paisley set up online giving with PAYA Charity to allow Parishioners to donate to their Parishes while unable to attend Mass in person. Since PAYA Charity no longer provide the same level of service, we have moved to Charities Trust. You can find the new links at https://www.rcdop.org.uk/online-giving
The most efficient way to donate on a regular basis to your Parish is by using standing orders, which can be set up using a form or using online banking. The Charities Trust however is a useful additional way of giving to your Parish and allows visitors to Parishes to make one-off donations.
Note that the existing QR codes and weblinks to PAYA Charity still work (although we do not have the weblink on the Diocesan website). We will keep these accounts open for now, with a view to closing them in the near future. We will be contacting donors by email to inform them of the change and to explain how to cancel any recurring donations they may have set up with PAYA Charity.
“You may or may not know that our parish has a golf society which has existed in one form or another for over 50 years. The object of the society is twin fold. We promote a community of parishioners who have the common interest of golf and to that end we have Sunday outings from late Spring until Autumn. The program includes two weekend trips over a Friday to Sunday in Scotland. The second goal is fund raising for charities at each outing. Last year we raised around £1600 for charities nominated by the members. The charities we supported were Mary’s Meals, Glasgow City Mission, St Vincent’s Hospice and the food bank of the Trussell Trust. Each charity received £500 thanks to gift aid and Mary’s Meals benefited from fund matching of another £400. The program of outings this season are as follows 30 March Prestwick St Cuthbert’s Golf Club; May 16 -18 Green Hotel and golf in Kinross. 22 June to Muckhart Golf Club; 3 August Alloa Braehead Golf; 12-14 September Park Hotel playing Monifieth GC then Montrose Links on 13 and 14 September; 5 October Auchterarder GC. Outings cost approximately £60 which includes a two-course meal plus an additional few pounds for prizes (golf balls) and gratuities for golf club catering staff. Most golf clubs limit participants to 24. The weekends tend to be smaller. The weekend trips tend to be booked by current members very quickly once the program is published. The weekends are for trophies but the other trips are just the glory of victory. We have a final social evening involving dinner at a local restaurant nearer Christmas to wind up the year and allocate the charity money as agreed by the committee. Membership of the society is open to all parishioners, family and friends. We are a very friendly club and if there is anyone who would like to join us then contact our current committee chairman Jim McGuinness.” Email: [email protected]

We meet - each Tuesday after 10am Mass. “We should like to convey our thanks for the support and generosity of our Parishioners who attend our weekly Tuesday coffee mornings. From January 2024 until December 2024, you donated £6032.95 to this wonderful charity. We are very appreciative of all your help and support. Coffee resumes on Tuesday 14 January and we look forward to welcoming you back. With grateful thanks...” Patsy Henderson pp Mary's Meals Team.
Thank you for your prayers and generous offering to the Justice and Peace Commission. In 2024 our Justice & Peace collection raised £16,793 with an additional £1,373 from Gift Aid and £1,665 in interest, bringing total income to £19,831. In 2024 our total (draft) expenditure was £34,953 with £10,300 as our Diocesan pro-rata contribution to the National J&P work and £24,653 for the Scottish Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency. So, our costs in 2024 were £15,122 (76%) higher than our income. This collection helps fund our Scottish Catholic Justice and Peace Commission, our Marriage Tribunal and our Catholic Parliamentary Office. Our Justice & Peace Commission campaigns against renewal of Trident, for fairness for asylum seekers and refugees and for action against climate change and for the environment. It also networks with parishes and advises our Bishops on social justice, international peace and human rights. Our national Marriage Tribunal processes cases for annulment and supports two staff. Our Parliamentary Office works with MSPs, MPs and the wider political society to promote the influence of Catholic Social Teaching on our law and supports one officer.
